LumeDELLumeDEL LLC. is a New Hampshire-based supplier of fibre-coupled LED light sources. The company was started after its founders learned that an increasing number of life sciences, medical, scientific, and industrial customers needed the performance of a fibre-coupled LED for their applications but were unable to either procure such a device or engineer one themselves.

The company realised that there was a need for high output LED devices to serve as essential, yet uncomplicated tools for end-users to perform leading edge research in both academic and industrial laboratories. In response they developed the NewDEL™ range of fibre-coupled LEDs.

Key features and benefits:

  • High output power capability: Delivering ample light intensity for a wide range of applications.
  • Broad wavelength range: Covering a spectrum from 275-1100 nm.
  • Integrated driver/controller: Eliminating the need for external control circuitry, simplifying system integration.
  • User-friendly software interface: Offering a Windows®-based GUI for convenient operation and parameter adjustment.
  • Versatile connectivity: Featuring serial connectivity with programmability, enabling control through external devices.
  • Multiple operation modes: Supporting PWM, pulsed, and trigger modes to suit various application requirements.
  • Optimised thermal management: Ensuring stable output power and longevity through effective heat dissipation.
  • Extended lifespan: Eliminating the need for lamp replacements, reducing maintenance costs and downtime.
  • Compatibility with large-core fibres: SMA905 connectors enable use with large core, high NA, multimode optical fibres.
  • Non-volatile memory: Integrated EEPROM stores parameters, ensuring consistent performance even after power cycles.

LumeDEL's technology and product range has been developed to offer a more effective alternative to lasers or mercury arc lamps. The company focuses on developing innovative LED technology with the potential to transform academic and industrial research capabilities. Their mission is to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge LED devices into customers' systems, empowering researchers to expand the frontiers of scientific discovery with exceptional ease and efficiency.

Featuring dedicated spectral families targeting critical applications like spectroscopy, optogenetics, and fluorescence imaging, LumeDEL fibre-coupled LEDs deliver high radiant power in a system that is ready to use out-of-the-box.

NewDEL fibre-coupled LEDs deliver exceptional brightness and ease of use, making them ideal for researchers and OEMs in various medical, biotech, and industrial applications. The product range encompasses single chip narrowband sources spanning the UV to near IR spectral region and multi-chip broadband sources. Additional wavelengths are available upon request.

The NewDEL platform prioritises flexibility and user-friendliness. Each fibre-coupled LED system incorporates its own driver and microcontroller circuitry, eliminating the need for external components and simplifying setup. Users enjoy comprehensive control over various parameters, including delays, triggers, pulse durations, and PWM frequency and duty cycle. For advanced use, the NewDEL products can also be programmed using intuitive serial commands.

Recognising the paramount importance of output quality in target scientific applications, NewDEL LEDs are meticulously designed to produce high radiant power with spectrally stable output. To maximise output power, we recommend fibre patch cables with larger core diameters and high numerical apertures (NA) for optimal input coupling. LumeDEL exclusively employs PWM dimming, eliminating the spectral shifts that can arise from analogue dimming. The design stabilises LED junction temperature using passive thermal management, maximising LED lifespan without the need for noisy fans that consume additional energy.

These combined attributes make NewDEL LED sources compelling replacements for lasers and lamps in a wide spectrum of scientific and industrial applications.
